Nepalese Marriage License
While it is possible to get a marriage certificate in Nepal, it is no easy task. You will be required to provide an Affidavit of Eligibility to Marry to the District Court Office in Kathmandu along with documentation including evidence of your nationality, photographs, and a nominal processing fee. After you apply, the CDO will check your legal status in Nepal with various government offices. This process may take some weeks. After the CDO processes your application, they will issue a marriage certificate, which is usually written in both Nepali and English.
Based on your nationality and passport, you can secure an Affidavit of Eligibility to Marry in your home country and forward the documents to the CDO in Kathmandu.
For US citizens, the American Embassy requires that you have a marriage license
While it is not always possible to have enough time for a legal marriage license in Nepal, it is possible to have a ceremonial service at a Buddhist monastery in Namche Bazaar.
Includes indigenous wedding attire made and blessed by the monks.
